Boy Jumps Ship
Boy Jumps Ship were formed in the winter of 2009 and are a four piece ensemble hailing from Newcastle. By drawing influences from each member’s wealth of experience the boys are a force to be reckoned with and have created a live show that is an explosive amalgamation of musicianship, distinctive hooks and arresting energy.

Sailors and Saints

Sailors and Saints
Sailors & Saints are an upcoming alt-rock/indie band from the North East coast of England. They started up early in 2011 and have since then self-released two EPs and played many shows around the UK. They have also just released their debut single Runway (Feel the Night) as a free download, produced by Futures' frontman Ant West in London earlier this year. Musical comparisons have been made to bands such as Biffy Clyro, Jimmy Eat World and Kings of Leon.

 

Rossi Noise

Rossi Holland
Rossi Noise are a 5 piece band, heavy in beats with dub influences, fusing Dubstep, Dance, Drum and Bass, Hip Hop and Rock into cinematic proportions. In their short time together, Rossi Noise have been interviewed for and had tracks aired on the likes of BBC Radio One, Radio Six and BBC Newcastle and Tees among others, and were also invited to attend the BBC Introducing masterclass this year at Maida Vale and Abbey Road studios.

The Faithfuls are the house band of Keep The Faith, a collective of like-minded people who are working to bring together the hip hop talent of the North-East and showcase their talent to the mainstream under one identity. The Faithfuls will be joined by some of the finest North East Hip-Hop artists.

Suus
A young rapper from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne nominated as battler of the year in 2012 in the UK's largest battle league 'Don't Flop' as well as releasing several mixtapes that included collaborations and cameos from Canada to Newcastle.

Rick Fury
Rick Fury
Rick Fury is undoubtedly one of the North East's finest and most hard working emcees. His remarkable story-telling ability, sincerity, humour and masterful wordplay have gained him wide recognition as one of the best.

Kay
Kay
Kema Sikazwe better known as his stage name KAY is a rapper/producer/songwriter from the North East. KAY had a passion for music at a young age as a hobby but became serious about music and made it his life after his mothers passing in 2007 and the rough upbringing in the westend of Newcastle. KAY uses his music to show no matter what area you are from or how negative your life has been that anything is possible.

Chris4sit
Chris4sit is a rapper, singer and producer from the North East of the UK and Mobo unsigned regional winner 2012 with a substantial amount of videos on youtube his channel currently has a collective of over 200,000 views and he is constantly strengthening his fanbase.

Micky Moran Parker
Micky Moran Parker
Micky Moran Parker is a singer songwriter from the coastal town of Cullercoats in the North East in England who has a unique brand of 21st Century soul and blues. Micky's sound stems from years of playing and singing blues and soul music and has grown into a raw, modern hybrid that draws influence from delta blues and 60's soul and binds it in an electronic context. The sound is atmospheric, soulful, and real. <>Micky is currently working with UMT VOX producer Dom Zilla on an album and will be releasing an EP later this year.

Julija Jacenaite
Julija was an experienced jazz performer and TV host in Lithuania but when she moved to Newcastle and teamed up with Wayne C. Mcdonald (The Wanted, Jessie J, Kelly Rowland) on UMT: VOX they created some huge pop tracks cut for the club dance floor. 

Laura Smith
Laura Smith
Singing in Newcastle’s experimental electronic act Shift-Static (with Gordon Bruce who graduated from the UMT Academy’s production course) Laura Smith’s stunning vocal was complemented by the production of Danny Linton (Funk Ethics) on UMT: VOX producing an impressive atmospheric track with a whimsical electronic pulse.


The Castells
The Castells
The Castells don't do anything by halves. Bands formed in late 2010 should not be at Maida Vale by March 2011 but it speaks volumes of the racket these boys are conjuring up. A Fearne Cotton session under the belt the boys then smashed 2011 with 2 critically acclaimed singles and tour dates across Germany and the UK with some of the best new bands in the world. Keep your eyes on this Geordie 4 Piece. Look out 2012.

Dutch Cult
Dutch Cult
Dutch Cult are a three piece band hailing from the North East. After forming in late 2010 known as 'The Cutouts', they played festivals such as Split Festival 2010 and Friends of Mine Festival 2011 in Manchester playing alongside bands such as The Cribs, The Charlatans, Maximo Park and The Futureheads. Their sound has been described as Alternative Rock, and often get compared to bands such as Queens of The Stone Age and Cage The Elephant.

Tomahawks for Targets
Tomahawks For Targets sound has been described as 'Jigsaw Pop', in reference to their tendency for complex intertwining melodies, while still creating a catchy pop hook. Tomahawks for Targets have gained substantial praise from luminaries such as Tom Robinson (BBC 6Music) & Edith Bowman (BBC Radio 1) and performed at Leeds and Reading festivals in August 2011 as well as a main-stage appearance at Split Festival 2011 at the behest of the festival's curators The Futureheads.

"Athletes In Paris come from the North East and sing in their native accents. They have two drummers playing world beats and latin grooves. Their INCREDIBLY catchy and equally idiosyncratic pop songs are punctuated with chanted gang-vocals and frantic muted guitar picking. It's one big multicultural northern melting pot that'll make you realise the missing link between 1980's Sting, Phil Collins, Prefab Sprout and modern day Friendly Fires and Two Door Cinema Club et al."

Supanice is a freestyle rapper form Newcastle upon Tyne signed to Castle on the Map Records and released a FREE mix tape every month in 2011. It’s Over Now’ from ‘The Foundation’ mixtape was a ‘100% Homegrown Track of the Week’ on DJ Target’s BBC 1xtra show.

Now after a hugely success and highly praised performance at BBC Radio Ones Big Weekend 2011 on the BBC Introducing Stage it seems the door is largely open for the Baron to take things to the next level.


Jister
Jister
Jister is a 21 year old independent hip hop artist from Teesside who combines clever and thoughtful lyricism with old school, raw hip hop beats.  He has collaborated with artists from around the world, has released a number of successful mixtapes and EPs via Bandcamp and iTunes within his first year of making music, and has seen his fan base develop substantially without the help of a label or any management backing.

Lily Brooke
Newcastle’s Lily Brooke is a young singer/songwriter who graduated from Generator’s UMT: PLAY course at a very young age with just her voice and a piano has stacked up thousands of plays on her soundcloud page.

Jenny Jones
Jenny Jones
Performing and writing in a varied style of bands from the Alternative Rock of Birds vs Planes who played the Radio Big Weekend to the Electro Pop of Karoshi, Jenny continued to show her versatility when work with Smoove (Smoove & Turrell) on UMT: VOX.  Jenny has also worked with Swedish management company Lateral MGMT who represent the likes of Taio Cruz and Paloma Faith.

Amy Holford
Amy Holford
Amy Holford is fast becoming one of the best female vocalists in the North East, after working with Mark Lowry (Shindig) on UMT: VOX her stunning vocal started to turn heads from the local press and the Communion nights in Newcastle.


The Real Davina
The Real Davina
The Real Davina are a soulfully extravagant pop band from the north east of England. They are also about creating live shows that both entertain and amaze in a whirlwind of musical expression, that has been described by some as "something fresh" and a "unique" sound with a "feel good factor".

A distinctive blend of captivating melodies, huge drumming, dirty and delayed guitar work with inventive bass lines allows South Shields based Bright Lights to be no ordinary female fronted band... Combining a range of influences such as Twin Atlantic, Circa Survive, Thrice and Lower than Atlantis, Bright Lights recorded a well received demo in 2011, leading to airplay on BBC Radio Newcastle, with their first E.P to be released this summer. The bands dedication to inventive practising, passion for unique song-writing and striving to be original equates to an equally intense live show which isn't to be missed...'.
