Premier Sunderland art punks The Futureheads have announced some details of the release of their fourth album.‘The Chaos’ will be released on 26th April and will feature the single ‘Heartbeat song’, which was Fearne Cotton’s single of the week on her mid-morning Radio One show last week.The new LP will be released on their own Nul Records imprint and the band will play the following live shows:

Teesside based four piece Jimmy and the Sounds recently announced the release of a new single and UK tour.The band, who featured as part of Generator’s SPEAR:LIVE shows in 2009, subsequently gaining airplay on Tom Robinson’s ‘Introducing’ show on 6Music, will release ‘Sounds’ on April 27th. The tour is already in full swing, including several shows around the North East.

The protests surrounding the proposed closure of digital radio station 6Music continue to rage on this week, with some high profile names publicly speaking out against the BBC’s decision.David Bowie issued a message on his website stating: "6music keeps the spirit of broadcasters like John Peel alive and for new artists to lose this station would be a great shame."
