The annual ABC circulation figures have revealed that NME experienced a 14.3% year on year decline in the first six months of this 2011, dropping to below 30,000 copies each week.Showing the biggest drop in the music sector for the second consecutive year, NME fell 9.8% from the previous six-month period and currently stands at 29, 020.

The organisers of the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium have announced that they are cancelling the remainder of the festival following the deaths of five people due to a stage collapse during a storm yesterday (Thursday August 18th).According to reports from BBC News, staging collapsed at The Chateau stage and trees were uprooted when the violent storm hit.

Following the fire that destroyed the Sony DADC distribution warehouse in Enfield during riots in London, PIAS Entertainment Group has announced a swift contingency plan that will ensure that all releases from independent labels will continue to be distributed.A new distribution centre set up by Sony and based in Hertfordshire will be operational from Monday 22nd August and will immediately handle all orders with supermarkets, international shipments and wholesalers.

[PIAS] Entertainment Group and the Association of Independent Music (AIM) have created a fund to help support labels that have been adversely affected by the Sony DADC fire.Just to be clear, there is one fund that will consist of monies donated by well-wishers to both parties, as well as a sum put up by AIM's larger members and indeed AIM itself.
