In a step away from the usual approaches to direct engagement between fans and artists, Amazing Media Group are giving artists the opportunity to sell their music and receive 100% of the revenue.
The Tyneside based company whose ventures include Amazing Radio, a digital radio station that exclusively features emerging acts unsupported by labels, won’t be getting a slice of the sales and artists will also have the choice to give music away for no charge, differentiating it from many other ‘direct to fan’ services.
Artists will be able to create an account, upload tracks and will then receive sales directly through Paypal.
In a statement, the Amazing team said: "If you think your garage band is the new Killers or you have a voice that could sing the birds out of the trees, simply create a new artist account on amazingtunes, upload your tunes, tell all your friends via Facebook, Twitter et al, listen to your songs on Amazing Radio and watch the royalties roll in!".
The Amazing Media Group also runs 'Amazing Tunes', a site set-up in 2006 as a kind of equivalent to iTunes for unsigned acts where artists receive 70% of the revenue generated. In January this year, Amazing Tunes teamed up with Music Week to deliver their weekly chart of emerging acts through the trade magazine’s website.
