Amazing support for AIM awards

Amazing Radio are all set to showcase music on independent labels such as Bella Union and Transgressive in the build up to the first ever AIM Awards on November 10.

The Gateshead based DAB station specialises in playing emerging artists through play-lists selected by users. Demonstrating its support for the independent sector, they will broadcast a five-part series from November 6-11, featuring several Indie labels and an interview with AIM Chairman and CEO Alison Wenham. There will also be a special broadcast on Amazing Radio during the award ceremony hosted by DJ Gill Mills.

The labels featured alongside the two mentioned above are Transgressive, Tri-Angle and Leaf. Those words in that order sound like an especially shady esoteric art project but there we go. The Gen recently speculated that it may well be the ‘Year of the Indies’ with the global success of acts such as Adele on XL, Arctic Monkeys on Domino and Bon Iver on 4AD helping Independent album sales step up to a 27.7% slice of the cake in 2011.
