Following a public vote, Jimmy & The Sounds have progressed to the next stage of Sound & Vision, resulting in the chance to work with a top music video director and their track ‘Sounds’ is now available to all aspiring remixers across the region.
Any producers based in the North East interested in remixing the track can find out more here and email Joe Frankland to access the track.
Remixers have until Wednesday 12th May to submit their tracks and will receive a £500 fee alongside the chance to take part in the complete video project.
Sound & Vision is an exciting collaborative project between Generator and screen agency Northern Film + Media, which aims to create a unique link between North East musicians and film makers.
Earlier this year, Generator put a call out for submissions from musicians and an assembled panel of industry experts then chose six finalists to go to public vote, with the eventual result aiming to bring two cutting edge talents from the region together for an amazing opportunity.
Following more than 90 submissions from emerging artists in the last two months, six artists were selected including Jimmy & The Sounds alongside Mammal Club, Viva City, Hellfire Club, France and The Habsburgs and Nadine Shah.
Anthony Sawdon from Jimmy & The Sounds, said: “The band are totally elated about our track being chosen for the Sound & Vision treatment. We can’t wait to work with some great remixers and filmmakers to produce a fantastic video and remix for ‘Sounds’.”
The Teesside based band will also go on to make a music video with an emerging film maker selected by Northern Film + Media and mentored by legendary film maker Dick Carruthers, who has directed and produced live concert films and DVDs for some huge musical acts such as Oasis, Led Zeppelin and The Killers. The complete video will then be showcased at an exclusive event.
Agnes Wilkie, Creative Industry Director, Northern Film + Media, said: “It’s really exciting to have finally chosen the track - ‘Sounds’ was a very popular choice. Now we’d like to invite all remixers to come forward and take part in Sound & Vision.”
Elaborating on the remix element of the programme, Generator CEO Jim Mawdsley said: “The recent popularity of high profile remixes such as Skream’s remix of La Roux’s ‘In For The Kill,’ proves just how effective musical collaboration can be.”
