  • Hotly tipped North East act Let’s Buy Happiness were recently confirmed to appear on the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury Festival this year.The festival is taking place on 23rd-27th of June at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset and will feature a vast array of huge music acts, including headliners U2, Muse and Stevie Wonder.
  • Highly regarded North East pop act Minotaurshave announced details of the release of their debut album ‘Eat your hate’, with a complete download of the LP available now with pre-orders.The CD format will be released through the band’s own label, Cottage Industries on 1st July 2010 and will be limited to 500 copies.
  • A fundraiser for the National Society of Epilepsy (NSE) will feature some of greatest emerging regional acts from the North East, taking place at The Cluny on the weekend of 10th / 11th of April.
  • Premier Sunderland art punks The Futureheads have announced some details of the release of their fourth album.‘The Chaos’ will be released on 26th April and will feature the single ‘Heartbeat song’, which was Fearne Cotton’s single of the week on her mid-morning Radio One show last week.The new LP will be released on their own Nul Records imprint and the band will play the following live shows:
  • Teesside based four piece Jimmy and the Sounds recently announced the release of a new single and UK tour.The band, who featured as part of Generator’s SPEAR:LIVE shows in 2009, subsequently gaining airplay on Tom Robinson’s ‘Introducing’ show on 6Music, will release ‘Sounds’ on April 27th. The tour is already in full swing, including several shows around the North East.
  • Generator will be representing the North East’s most exciting new acts at world famous music conference ‘South by South West (SXSW)’ in Texas this month.
  • The organisers of the annual two-day Evolutionfestival recently announced a first class line-up for the huge outdoor Newcastle / Gateshead event in 2010.
  • Generator recommends some absolutely essential live action from around the region over the next few weeks starting with the BBC In New Music We Trust event at the Academy 04/03 featuring The Futureheads, Chapel Club, Courteeners and Frankie and the Heartstrings.Then on 06/03: Cluny 2 plays host to Eaststrikewest, Let's Buy Happiness & Mammal Club
  • Widely tipped North East act Detroit Social Club recently announced plans to release a new EP. Entitled ‘Kiss the Sun’; the four-track EP is set for digital and physical release on March 1st and will feature a title track alongside ‘Black & White’, 'Never too late to try' and ‘Thousand Kings’.
  • The Liverpool Sound City annual industry event have now opened online applications and are encouraging emerging unsigned artists across the UK to get involved.The event is an internationally established series of music industry conferences, workshops and live shows showcasing new talent and will take place this year from 19th-22nd May at various venues across the City.
