    AIM awards strike back

    Following a hugely successful launch last year, the Association of Independent Music (AIM) has announced the return of the independent music awards in October.
  • IMPALA has announced that Martin Mills and the Label Love initiative will both receive their outstanding contribution award. As previously reported 'Label Love’ was an operation launched by music fans in the immediate aftermath of the London riots last year and the subsequent fire at the Sony / DADC warehouse.

    Mills and Boom!

    Beggars Group founder, chairman and all-round Indie champion Martin Mills is set to be awarded the Music Producers Guild’s (MPG) Outstanding Contribution to UK Music Award for 2012.The award will be presented to the Beggars founder at the MPG 2012 Awards on February 16 next year at the Café de Paris in London.
  • Adele, Bjork, Frank Turner and Domino Recording Co. have all triumphed at the first ever Independent Music Awards organised by AIM. Hosted by 6 Music's Steve Lamacq and Radio 1's Huw Stephens, the sold-out event took place at Soho's Floridita on Thursday 10 November and was a celebration of the successes of the sector as we approach the end of the ‘Year of the Indies’.
  • Amazing Radio are all set to showcase music on independent labels such as Bella Union and Transgressive in the build up to the first ever AIM Awards on November 10.
  • Merlin, the global agency representing the rights of the independent sector has struck a deal with YouTube that will enable its member labels to be paid for plays on the video steaming site.

    LabelLove goes global

    The LabelLove campaign, set up in the aftermath of the PIAS warehouse blaze last month is picking up the pace, with fundraising events happening across the UK as well as the rest of Europe, the US and Japan.During October, events are happening at the Ruby Lounge in Manchester as well as the Cube Cinema in Bristol and Favela Chic in London.
  • Public voting for the forthcoming inaugural AIM Awards on November 10 has opened for best live act, best independent festival and ‘Indie Champion’.
