  • In response to Arts Council England’s (ACE) aim to support the development of artistic talent for the UK music industry, Generator launched Mapped Out at Liverpool Sound City- a national contemporary music touring network that will link high quality emerging talent to six independent promoters across the UK, focusing on towns that have been identified as having insubstantial provision for emerging music.
  • Injecting more than a touch of drama into music industry news this week, the £26bn lawsuit that the Jackson family has launched against promoters AEG kicked off this week. Prince, Diana Ross, Quincy Jones and Jackson's ex-wife, Lisa Marie Presley are all set to take to the stand and The Gen will try its very best to employ appropriately tabloid friendly language for this one.
  • Following the sale of a 50% stake to the MAMA Group, leftfield promoters All Tomorrow's Parties has announced the end of its holiday camp weekenders after the planned events this year.
  • Music website Gigwise has announced a partnership with Kendal Calling festival for this year and will be involved in hosting a number of acts on its own stage. Line up for Liverpool

Scouse-by-Scouse West returns, with 150 new artists and a whole new wave of panels announced for Liverpool Sound City and guest speakers covering topics ranging from tech, brand and sync partnerships to digital and the relationship between music and football.
  • The worst kept secret in the live music industry so far this year is finally ‘out’- The Rolling Stones will headline Glastonbury, with the festival also announcing its complete line-up.
  • The latest wave of acts playing at The Great Escape this year has been announced, with 50 new artists confirmed including Everything Everything (pictured) playing a Dome show, rising star Lulu James, Tribes and the return of Klaxons. Surely it isn’t time for the new rave revival already? People will actually be getting excited about a new album from The Strokes next.
  • Generator are very pleased to announce the lineup for this year’s Evolution Emerging which will see over 40 artists taking over 9 venues in the Ouseburn Valley, Newcastle. With a record 500 track submissions from emerging North East artists, we’ve taken over extra venues to squeeze in as much regional talent as possible.
  • As SXSW kicks off in Austin this year, MusicMetric have put together a handy infographic of all the artists playing. Who needs Texas sunsets, free BBQs and secret gigs in small venues from mega-stars when you could simply stare at a few charts and graphs?
  • A new study from WeGotTickets has reiterated the positive environmental impact of paperless ticketing, with the company also requesting that customers avoid printing confirmation emails at all. The not exactly snappy but literal ‘Carbon Assessment Of Ticketing Delivery Systems Report’ reveals that a paper ticket posted out emits 107 times more carbon than paperless ticketing that doesn’t involve printing emails at home.
