    Tunigo is spot on

    Following Twitter’s acquisition of We Are Hunted in April, Spotify has confirmed that it is also dipping its toes in the music discovery stream with Tunigo. The app has been snapped up to help users navigate Spotify’s catalogue of 20 million tracks.
  • With the news that R.E.M are calling it a day yesterday, I felt compelled to put together this play-list of their finest worksongs.Essentially, they were one of those bands that managed to break through and really matter, first as a template for thrillingly elliptical underground Indie rock and then as pioneers of tasteful, intelligent stadium rock.

    Apple unveil iCloud

    Apple has confirmed that they are to unveil the long awaited ‘iCloud’ service during a keynote address at their Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco on June 6.
  • Google has this month stepped up to the cloud by releasing its cloud based digital locker ‘Beta’ music service. In a similar fashion to Amazon's Cloud Player launched in March this year, no licensing deals with labels are presently in place for the service.
  • Hugely influential music blog and streaming site The Hype Machine has launched an iPhone app. The team behind the hype claim that the app will transform humble music blogs into almighty radio stations, stating: “We’ve created a seamless Hype Machine radio experience so you can tap on, kick back, and listen to a neverending stream of great music, complete with artwork and blog posts”.
  • In a dramatic shake-up, streaming site Spotify has announced that it is to half the amount of time that users can listen to tracks through its service each month for free.From May 1, non-paying subscribers will be limited to 10 free hours of music as opposed to 20 and will only be able to listen to an individual track five times. New users signing up to ‘Spotify open’ will be moved to the restricted mode of listening six months after they register and paying subscribers won’t be affected.
