Cold Blend Course

Posted in Projects by Generator on Monday 15th of December 2008

COLD BLEND continues to run to high demand, and the last course of 2008 is currently underway. The purpose of the Cold Blend programme is to work with local communities and WNF stakeholders to develop a project that looks closely at the personal development of participants using music as the method of expression.

With Cold Blend, Generator wants to provide practical, interesting, in depth support customised towards the individual needs of different socially excluded groups, allowing those people to take the first critical steps towards employment or skills based training.

While the course is concerned with building musical skills amongst participants it is built into a structure that looks at the overall personal development of the students, increasing levels of confidence, improving communication skills and generally improving employment desirability.

The referral system the programme relies upon for its participants has become ever more effective since our partnership with Newcastle Futures and the ‘tracking’ systems formalised through the various organisations networked through their portal.

Mark Lowry, resident DJ at leading house night Shindig, and Adika Jebb Oates, DJ and promoter of Heavyweight, (who brought dubstep to the North East) are tutors for the course and have amassed an incredible amount of experience in this field, as well as building first rate skills in leadership and communication, integral to the support we offer participants.

The next course will begin in April 2009, and we are accepting referrals and expressions of interest now. Please contact jo@generator.org.uk or on (0191) 245 0099 extension 3 to receive further information.
