Ellie Goulding - BBC Sound of 2010 Widely tipped Singer / Songwriter Ellie Goulding has triumphed in the annual BBC Sound of 2010 poll. This is perhaps an unsurprising result, given that every form of media across the industry are now tipping Goulding as the artist most likely to commercially succeed this year.

The poll collates the views of a selected panel of 165 assorted music journalists, radio producers and presenters, DJs, bloggers and other industry insiders to determine who will be the dominant music acts of the year ahead. They each name three artists and the 15 with the most votes make the long-list, which was previously reported by The Gen here.

The top five were revealed last week to be: Ellie Goulding
Marina & The Diamonds
Delphic
Hurts
The Drums

The winner of the Sound of 2009 was Little Boots, with previous winners including Adele and 50 cent. To find out more, go to the BBC Sound of 2010 website.

In related news this week, Ellie Goulding and Marina and the Diamonds were both announced to be playing the next big thing festival in London.

In December last year, Goulding was also announced as the winner of the Critic's Choice Brit Award 2010.

Have your say! What are your thoughts on the top five and winner? Was this a necessarily predictable result? Who has the BBC poll missed out?
