Once again, Generator are leading the charge from the region to the rest of the UK, staging a ‘North East invasion’ with live showcases and panels at two colossal events in the music industry’s calendar this year - The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City.

Following the huge success of last year’s event at The Great Escape in Brighton featuring Detroit Social Club, we’re back by the sea and bohemian beaches with an event at the Queen’s Hotel, King’s Road, Brighton between 12-4pm on Saturday 14 May.

This explosive showcase will feature recent Bella Union signing Lanterns on the Lake, alongside Let’s Buy Happiness, Mammal Club, and Polarsets

A panel focusing on the advice and skills that aspiring artists need to seek out and develop to succeed will be hosted by Generator at the Victoria Courtroom at 12.15pm on Friday 13. The panel will also discuss what Government and Music Development Agencies should be doing to assist artists in accessing support, with a first class line-up of speakers from Generator, Columbia Records, Six07 Press, Music from Ireland / First Music Contact and the Scottish Music Industries Association.

Meanwhile, Liverpool Sound City may well spot us approaching from the docklands and are also set to experience a full scale North East Invasion showcase featuring Artrocker favourites The Chapman Family, Let’s Buy Happiness, Cattle & Cane and Vinyl Jacket at Mojo, The Stable, Back Berry Street, Liverpool at 7pm on Friday 20 May.

There will also be a panel event on the same day called ‘You Spin Me Right Round - The Create Rights Panel’, featuring Generator CEO Jim Mawdsley and James Farrelly from the Association of Independent Music (AIM), amongst others. This will focus on transparency and rights issues in the contemporary industry.

A limited compilation CD featuring tracks from the finest emerging acts in the region will also be available to delegates at both of these industry events.

Jim Mawdsley said: “The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City are two of the biggest events in the UK music industry calendar and an essential platform for emerging bands and solo artists”

Mawdsley continued: “The ‘North East Invasion’ line-ups and compilation demonstrate that the North East is not short of world-beating musicians lining up to capture the interest of the industry and music fans alike. And our strong history in the region for inviting the biggest names in the music industry to discuss key industry issues is being recognised nationally as we work in partnership with event organisers to deliver advice and guidance to aspiring musicians and music businesses."
