Following on from a hugely successful Music Futures Conference last week that celebrated 20 years in the music business for Generator, we’ve published our Annual Report for 2010/11 and you can read it here.
The report gives a great overview of everything that we’ve done in the music sector over the last year: The programme, the challenges, the artists, the businesses that we work with, the events and the staff.
Generator CEO Jim Mawdsley said: “Generator is by far the leading music development agency in the UK and this report outlines why and how we have earned that accolade”.
With an eye on the future, the report also gives due thanks to our partners and describes our developing national work, including some interesting case studies and personal stories from some of the musicians and businesses that have engaged with the agency in the last year.
Commenting on the success and national scope of the Music Futures Conference in Newcastle last week, Generator’s Business Development Director Damian Baetens said: “In the last 12 months Music Futures has gone from four panel events over a week to a conference day that’s registered on the national music industry radar. Due to the events success we’re really looking forward to developing this further in 2012 and cementing its position as the ‘innovation in practice’ event for new music businesses.”
Featuring an opening keynote from BPI Chairman and Generator Board member Tony Wadsworth, the event involved industry experts discussing everything from marketing directly to fans to synchronisation, live music in the digital age and developing new artists.
CEO of The MMF, Jon Webster commented: “As usual with Generator events, Music Futures was well organised, had an attentive, knowledgeable audience who lapped up the content”.
Founder of The Orchard, Scott Cohen was similarly enthusiastic and said: “I had a great time. It is an interesting event for me because I get a chance to see all the people from London in one room while simultaneously connecting with the industry in Newcastle. And getting to see what a vibrant industry exists up north is really exciting.”
