Unsigned bands from across the U.K are once again being offered the chance to win a main stage slot at this year's Glastonbury festival, by entering the festival's 'Emerging Talent' Competition.
An esteemed panel including Glastonbury's Michael and Emily Eavis, Q magazine's editor in chief Paul Rees and BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens will judge the entries which can be from any musical genre. The competition, now in its fifth year, is hosted by Glastonbury and Q magazine with entries submitted via Q's website up to the closing date of January 26th.
A shortlist of 12 finalists will then be invited to play a 20-minute set at Pilton Working Men's Club and the winner invited to play on either the Other or Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 2009. Entrants need to upload a short biog, photo and two MP3 tracks to get their own webpage which will be available for the public to view and stream. There is also a chance for entrants to have tracks played on Q Radio's drivetime show and organisers are also looking to fill slots from unsigned bands on other stages. Previous finalists have included The Subways, Scouting For Girls and Liz Green.
