A Kind of Blue

Pulp may have made ‘This is Hardcore’ and Murdoch may be seeking to reaffirm the old adage that ‘sex sells’ with the inevitable launch of the Sunday Sun but Jazz FM has trumped them all by apparently broadcasting noises from an ‘adult film’.

The digital station, which has a weekly audience of half a million, inadvertently broadcast several minutes of ‘moaning and groaning’. Reports that most listeners just thought that it was part of the usual programme couldn’t be confirmed at the time of going to press.

Head of Programming Mike Vitti said in a statement on the station’s website: “Unfortunately we had an unauthorised access to the live feed on Jazz FM on Saturday 18th February at 7:15pm which resulted in a highly regrettable incident. Please accept our profound and sincere apologies for any offence that may have been caused and rest assured we have taken steps to ensure that there will be no repeat of this incident”.

At least we can rest assured that the kids weren’t tuning in, this is Jazz FM after all. However, the incident has cast a shadow over recent attempts to introduce ‘Jazz hour’ to the Generator offices!
