Newcastle based 4-piece Little Comets are due to release their debut single this month. 'One night in October' is available for pre-order now.

The band played numerous Generator events, including In the City in their previous incarnation as Freerunner. Although there has presently been no formal announcement, the band have been heavily linked to a large deal with Sony and have also reportedly been added to the live roster of Ian Huffam at X-Ray Touring.

The band were recently tipped by Radio One DJ Huw Stephens as destined for greatness in 2009 and have gathered a reputation for chaotic unannounced live shows in lecture theatres and on public transport in whichever City or town they happen to be playing. Stephens included the band in his 2009 tips, commenting in a recent article on the Guardian music blog: "Little Comets are from Newcastle and they're a lot of fun. I think with the recession coming, people need fun music again".

A performance at In the City last year helped the band gain significant momentum, with industry insiders proclaiming a Vampire Weekend meets Supergrass pop sensibility that will crossover into the mainstream this year.

You can catch them live through March in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, and Stoke on Trent and watch the video for the forthcoming single at their Myspace.
