Maximo Park singer Paul Smith is set to release his debut solo album on October 11. 'Margins' will be co-produced by Smith and Andy Hodson of The Matinee Orchestra and will feature contributions from Field Music's David Brewis.
Paul Smith said: "I'm not 'going solo' – it's not like George Michael leaving Wham!"
He continued: “The songs are quite personal and sound different to The Park, so I decided to put it out under my own name and take full responsibility! Some of it is more acoustic and quiet but other parts are quite pop. I have no idea what people will make of it!”
Smith has started an interesting blog on his website and free track ‘North Atlantic Drift’ is available to download there as well.
The album will be released on Smith's own Billingham Records label.
Maximo Park are headlining the Split Festival in Sunderland over the weekend 25 and 26 of September.
