Maximo Park Invite North East Musicians To Remix “QUICKEN THE HEART”

Posted in Bands, Digital, News by Generator on Saturday 2nd of January 2010

Maximo Park have always done things their own way. So it’s not surprising that, on the heels of their latest release, the remix EP “Twelve”, the band are now turning the very tradition of remixers on its head and inviting other bands, groups and individuals to have their way with their third LP “Quicken the Heart”, be it a cover, a dance floor oriented editor or a completely avant garde rework of a track.

The idea originated from a simple, egalitarian premise; the band exploring ways of using their name to draw attention to an untapped well of musical talent living in Newcastle and the North East in general. As is the way with Maximo Park, there is no barrier as to who can be involved. They are open to a variety of bands and individuals dismantling and remodelling their tracks, with the aim of coming up with a body of work that is both varied musically and which includes a snapshot of the many excellent musicians working in the North East today, both new and up and coming artists as well as more established names.

Getting involved is simple. All the stems are available on line on the file-sharing SoundCloud page.

First, if you haven't already, set up your own page, which is easy and totally free. Then you can tell the band which track from their LP "Quicken The Heart" you are interested in working on, along with some information on yourself as a musician, and they will give you access to the files you need. Alternatively you can email maximoNEremix@googlemail.com. Just another way that Maximo Park are, without a doubt, one of the most exciting, and all encompassing bands that the UK has today.
