Transmission - the NEw wave

Late on last year we gathered seven emerging artists together who were causing a bit of a stir and grabbing attention in the North East. We put on a showcase gig with them for an audience of all ages and a panel of industry professionals including Field Music’s Peter Brewis, NARC. Editor Claire Dupree and Tom Robinson from BBC 6 Music.

Acts last time around included Let’s Buy Happiness, who have gone on to play Glastonbury Festival and a BBC session at Maida Vale,  Brilliant Mind, who have released music with Fierce Panda, and Black Cab Casino who have played a session for Tom Robinson. All artists involved had their tracks played by Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music and benefitted from expert advice and tips on their music.

We’ll be doing it all over again in September and Tom Robinson enjoyed it so much last time he’s asked to come back. So if you want your music to be heard by some of the region’s and the nation’s best tastemakers and to play a special gig in the stunning Great Hall at Discovery Museum now’s the time to send us your music. Transmission – the NEw wave is looking for five new and young bands or solo artists from the North East to play alongside two of the region's most talked about acts. To be considered please submit your track to www.soundcloud.com/theNEwwave by Monday 5 July and keep an eye on our website for the full announcement.

Transmission - the NEw wave will take place at the Discovery Museum, Newcastle upon Tyne on 4 September.
