As the secondary ticketing debate rages on in the aftermath of the Dispatches doc with the furore surrounding Stones tickets, MusicTank are set to focus on ticketing at an event in December.
The final ‘Think Tank’ event of the year will feature two panel debates, with one exploring innovations in the primary ticket market led by We Got Tickets Founder Dave Newton. This is likely to explore issues such as direct to fan models used by the likes of Radiohead and fan funded initiatives including Songkick’s recent ‘Detour’ shows with Hot Chip and Slow Club.
The second panel will address the various ongoing issues surrounding the secondary market and will include a keynote from Aline Renet of French live industry body PRODISS.
MusicTank Chair Keith Harris will moderate both panels and he commented: “Four years ago when MusicTank first took on this issue, the alarm bells were ringing, but the government and the industry hit snooze. Now it’s definitely time to wake up and get to work on solving this problem, before it’s too late”.
Both panels will feature a range of artists, managers, promoters and ticketing experts and the event will take place in London on December 5 from 5.30-9pm.
