Nadine goes for Tesco value

Hot on the heels of Faithless, Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle has revealed an exclusive distribution deal with retail giant Tesco for her debut solo album.

The LP ‘Insatiable’ will be the first time that a major artist has released a debut album exclusively through one retailer in the UK and it follows similar deals that Tesco have in place with Faithless and Simply Red.

25 year old singer Nadine Coyle said: "To be able to create an album where you are in complete creative control and to work with people as supportive, powerful and forward thinking as Tesco is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for an artist”.

Featuring song-writing collaborations with big names such as William Orbit and Guy Chambers, the album will be available in physical format and digitally, exclusively through Tesco in November this year.

Generate Debate: Are we all lost in the supermarket? Is this simply a better deal for established artists to enter into now, leveraging a massive advance against sales and tapping straight into a mass market? Or is this an admission that outside of the domestic market, there is no Major label willing to market "the one who isn't Cheryl" to the USA? Will the big fish retailers devour everyone else?
