Record Store Day re-releases

Posted in News, Retail by Generator on Wednesday 14th of March 2012

Artists and labels are gearing up for Record Store Day 2012, with exclusive releases from the likes of Arctic Monkeys and Animal Collective lined-up alongside a launch event featuring PiL and Orbital.

Arctic Monkeys are releasing ‘R U Mine?’ on limited heavyweight purple 7″ vinyl with a brand new track on the b-side called ‘Electricity’. Animal Collective are offering up the catchy sounding ‘Tranverse Temporary Gyrus’ on 12″ vinyl with an exclusive 24 x 36 foldout poster for the true fan-boy that lurks inside all of us.

The release features original tracks performed as part of an installation project by Animal Collective and visual artist Danny Perez at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Arcade Fire will release a limited 12” featuring remixes of ‘Sprawl II’ and ‘Ready to Start’.

In addition, John Lydon’s PiL and Orbital are set to play a secret event in London on Monday March 19 to launch Record Store Day. The event will be streamed live on Boiler Room TV and further exclusive releases are to be announced. To find out more go to the Record Store Day website and like them on Facebook here.

Record Store Day will take place on Saturday 21 April this year, so stay tuned to The Gen for more details.
