Summers gets on his bike, stepping down as MMF Chairman

Jazz Summers, legendary manager of The Verve, Klaxons and The Futureheads recently stepped down as chairman of the The Music Manager's Forum (MMF). Summers had conducted his role as the leading light of the professional music management community for four years, running parallel to his role as CEO of his own Big Life Management Group.

The International Managers Forum was founded in the UK in 1992. Prior to this, there was no legitimate platform or easy means of sharing and learning from the experiences of other managers and no avenue through which common problems and areas of concern could be discussed.

The formation of the MMF aimed to provide managers with opportunities for sharing and learning and also a much-needed voice within the industry. The forum has provided a chance for meaningful dialogue with the Government and other industry organisations as well as between managers.

Summers is expected to devote more time to his role as Chairman of Julie's Bicycle - A not for profit company established to find ways to reduce the UK music industry’s greenhouse gas emissions.

There has presently been no announcement for who will succeed Summers.

Have your say- Are you a band manager? Are you a member of the MMF? With the Music Industry as one of the worst environmental offenders, we applaud the formation of groups such as Julie's Bicycle . Do you agree that these are important issues?
