This year’s Un-Convention event in the North West is set to use a range of unusual venues and some high profile guests to explore key issues surrounding popular music and technology.
The annual convention, taking place from 1-3 October will feature various music events and industry panels using offbeat spaces throughout the Salford area of Greater Manchester including a barge, the Sacred Trinity Church and Salford lads club, famous for appearing on the inside cover of The Smith’s album ‘The Queen is Dead’ (pictured).
Artists confirmed to appear so far include Bill Drummond, Jarvis Cocker, Billy Bragg and Don Letts. There will also be a travelling circus, music photography on buildings and various interactive performances in unusual spaces around Salford.
In addition, there will be various industry panels exploring topics such as bands and brands, the politicisation of music and how to build a sustainable career in music.
The event started in Salford in 2008 and has since expanded to host conventions on a global scale in India, Colombia, Brazil, Australia, Spain, Germany, USA and Iceland.
