Detroit Social Club, a Newcastle based act championed by The Gen as far back as November 2007 have recently confirmed signing a recording deal with Fiction / Polydor.
Writing in a blog entry on the band’s myspace site, singer David Burn said:
“Ladies and gentlemen, after all of the talk, all of the hard work, and all of the flirting, Detroit Social Club are proud to have finally signed their record deal with Fiction / Polydor.
As Ian Brown puts it, they're the "best label in the world" and we are looking forward to working hard with them, and making lots of amazing music with them”.
DSC, are touring the UK throughout March and April including a sold-out date at The Cluny in Newcastle. Check out all of the dates and news about their forthcoming single and get a free download of a track, here.
The group will release their next single ‘Sunshine People’ on 30th March and play an in-store at RPM Records in Newcastle on the same day of the release.
Meanwhile, the stories persist that Newcastle’s Little Comets, (the artists formerly know as Freerunner) have also recently signed a deal.
In fact, The Gen has it on good authority that the band have signed to Columbia / Sony for recording.
Little Comets have had a publishing deal with Imagem publishing (formerly Zomba) since Q4 of 2006.
