Malcolm McLaren, the undoubted Prince of Puppetry was responsible for numerous shifts in popular music. Regarded by many as the Godfather of Punk, he can also lay claim to the equally important title of McLaren the Merciless - Destroyer of Prog!. I first met Malcolm in Newcastle 25 years ago whilst preparing for a special Mid Summer Night’s edition of the legendary TV show The Tube.

Newcastle based space rockers White Belt Yellow Tag released their debut album ‘Methods’ this week on Distiller Records. The Gen caught up with singer Craig Pilbin at the end of a three-week UK tour supporting The Automatic. When asked how he felt about the LP release, Pilbin said: “Its incredible, I’ve been waiting for this for a very long time and we want everyone to hear it”.

Hotly tipped North East act Let’s Buy Happiness were recently confirmed to appear on the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury Festival this year.The festival is taking place on 23rd-27th of June at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset and will feature a vast array of huge music acts, including headliners U2, Muse and Stevie Wonder.
