It is a firm ambition of Generator to ensure that all music business has the greatest chance of success and that we build as much Music Industry infrastructure for the North East.
Therefore once people have started music businesses and are beginning to find their feet it is vital that we offer continued specialist support over and above access to the Music Clinics and Business of Music Training. Generator have recruited a pool of mentors to advise those who are serious about running a successful music business, have invested time and finances into this business, have written a business plan and have registered themselves as a business.
Applicants will be required to apply and state what elements of running their business they feel unsure of. They will be required to produce a business plan (not necessarily produced in the Music Clinic) and a marketing strategy for their current activities. Once this has been submitted they will be assessed by a panel of those who already run successful music businesses or have a strong track record in the industry.
Each successful applicant will be allocated one specific key contact mentor who will have the most knowledge of the particular business field, i.e. if it is a management company an experienced music manager will be allocated. Likewise if it is a live music promotions company and experienced promoter will be the key mentor.
However it will be part of the remit of each mentor to access the mentor pool for one off sessions with other mentors who may have specific knowledge of a business problem, i.e. a music lawyer who can advise on a contract. By doing this we are again offering as wide a range of support as possible.
