Compact: Making Money In Dance Music (Tees)

Wednesday, 13th March 2013

10:00 - 17:00

Centre for Enterprise, Teesside University, Middlesbrough, TS1 3BA

FREE ENTRY

Compact: Making Money In Dance Music is aimed specifically at DJs and Producers looking to progress from a bedroom hobby or from the early stages of success into a long-term successful career. The session feature guest speaker Danny Ward (Dubble D / Moodymanc / 2020 Soundsystem) and will cover topics such as:

  • The various income streams available to DJs and Producers/Artists
  • How to approach record labels
  • Working with record labels
  • How to get more gigs
  • Choosing the right opportunities
  • Promoting yourself and building an audience
  • How to set up your own record label

Dance Music has its own unique features and quirks which make it different to other genres. For example: performing 'live' can actually mean DJing with other people's records; songs generally get signed to a range of labels rather than exclusively to one, and; the songwriter, composer, performer, producer and engineer are often all the same person.  These quirks can often mean that dance music should be treated as a special case when it comes to the routes available for generating income.

Compact: Making Money In Dance Music is now fully booked. To add your name to the waiting list please email jonny@generator.org.uk and we will be in touch should we take any cancellations.
