Publishing is now more important to some artists’ careers than getting a record deal. Our panelists will discuss how songwriters and musicians can generate income from their songs in the new music industry.

Points for discussion:

  • How can you offset the decline in revenue from sales of recorded music?
  • At which stage in a band/artist’s development do they need to bring a publisher on board?
  • How do major publishers differ from the smaller independents?

Caroline Elleray – Universal Music Publishing
Ryan Farley – Warner Chappell
Steve Farris – Polar Patrol (Snow Patrol)
Helen Gammons – Sync in the City / ‘The Art of Music Publishing’
