State of Independents: Venue Week

Independent Venue Week is set to return in January 2015, featuring at least 85 venues from across the UK- five times the amount that participated in 2014.

Events will be curated from partners including BBC Introducing, Xfm, Rough Trade, Noisey and booking agency 13 Artists featuring artists such as Edwyn Collins, The Subways, The Blockheads, Frankie & The Heartstrings and Peace. Additional partners include PRS for Music, UK Music and the Musicians' Union, who all supported the event this year.

In addition, Independent Venue Week ambassador Frank Turner will headline two special shows, one of which at 93 Feet East, where he played his first ever gig.

Co-founder of the project Sybil Bell said: “For us to grow fivefold in just one year is amazing and shows just how strongly people feel, from all across the industry, about these venues and the role they play both to breaking and touring artists and to local fans all around the country”.

The events will follow the previously announced Venues Day at the Southbank Centre on December 9th organised by the Music Venue Trust.
