DJ Equipment

DJ technology has come a remarkably long way over the last 20 years, from standard record players to the introduction of MP3s and specialist DJ orientated computer programs. As a result, long gone are the days of DJs showing up and simply using two turntables and a bag of vinyl to create soundtracks in clubs.

DJs now use computer software and CDs as well as vinyl to mix. As traditional record sales have declined, the DJ technology market has adapted to reflect this; people now purchase and download mp3 and wav files (digital audio formats) much more than they buy vinyl and CDs and DJs need to be able to play these formats in exactly the same way that they would use their traditional formats.

There is growing evidence that DJs and regular music collectors alike are converting to digital formats on a massive scale.

DJ booths are now commonly equipped with gadgets like CDJs, Serato, and Torq effect units as well as the industry standard Technics 1210 and Pioneer CDJ series. These decks still seem to remain the favourite choice with high profile DJs and as a result, you will find these turntables in most venues.
