UMT: BEATS

UMT:BEATS is a fully-funded entry level music training course for aspiring DJs and music producers.

Our 12 week courses take place twice per week throughout the year. The next available course starts November 14th.

UMT BEATS MIXES by Generator

DJ and production skills bring you up to a professional standard and areas covered include:

Beat-matching / Beat juggling / Turntablism / CD mixing / FX, editing, sequencing and sampling / Recording Vocals / Music Production skills / Performance skills / Digital Technology.

 

LEARN FROM INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS AND SPECIAL GUESTS

Each course is celebrated with a high-profile club event in Newcastle and students gain experience of promoting and managing their own events.

BEATS students also complete Arts Award qualifications - a valuable level 1 national qualification.

Participants are eligible for education prices from Digital Village.

Equipment Available:

After an extensive equipment upgrade UMT now offers young people the chance to use top line performance and production equipment including Pioneer CDJ400's, DJM400 mixers, Traktor Scratch Pro Digital DVS System.

On the production side we have all systems running Cubase 5 with a host of top plugins, running through professional ADAM Monitoring.

Who are we looking for?

Aspiring DJs and producers aged 16-24. Spaces for BEATS are extremely limited (12 per course) and young people will be selected using criteria designed to satisfy funding requirments.

Generator's strong-track record of engaging young people through music attracts and holds the interest of young people who fall outside conventional engagement. UMT courses develop vital life-skills and increase opportunities, contacts and exposure both in and outside the music industry.
