Formerly a member of now disbanded local favourites The Small Screen Light Show, Rebecca Young has now flown the nest to make music under the moniker This Little Bird. Thank God she decided to continue making music, as the songs she now has under her wing (sorry, I'll stop making bad bird-related puns now) are so beautifully warm and rich, they fill you with the same intoxicating sensation as a nice bottle of red wine.
Romance is not dead by thislittlebird
With her earthy vocals that brim with experience and emotion, This Little Bird's music is an exquisite blend of acoustic folk and country, each song a story in its own right. Romance Is Not Dead; a tender ode to love, sung with true affection, has more than a hint of Americana about it. It's not a far stretch of the imagination to imagine this track being sung around a campfire, a testament to Rebecca's ability to create a huge sense of warmth with just her voice and guitar: a true talent indeed.
This Little Bird supports Slow Club at The Cluny, Newcastle on Wednesday 14th September. She then plays the Fringe Tent at Split Festival, Sunderland on Saturday 17th September.
