London trio Novella know how to pick their allies. They’ve already benefitted from the boost of appearing on a split 12” with Gross Magic, The History of Apple Pie and Echo Lake, and they’ve recently announced that they’re setting off on tour with Veronica Falls in March. Just as Veronica Falls seemed to upstage Dum Dum Girls on their joint tour last year, so might they fall victim to a similar fate at the hands of Novella.
Really, it’s difficult to imagine anyone who is a fan of slightly dark reverby guitar pop not liking Novella because they’re already damn-near perfect proponents of the art. There are three songs up on their Soundcloud page at the moment, of which ‘Santiago’ is probably the pick. The song in question is an utterly exhilarating head rush of fuzz-pop, as fulfilling as it is catchy. Keep your eyes on Novella, because they really are blossoming into a brilliant band.
