POLARSETS

Song Title:
DISTANCE

Words by Patrick Swift

The track ‘Distance’ is one quarter of Newcastle-upon-Tyne-based three piece Polarsets’ ‘Exotica EP’ which was released last month.‘Exotica’ is definitely an apt title for the EP as this track and others on the release are tinged with Caribbean-sounding steel drums that run throughout effortlessly. The dreamy vocal emits a great summery vibe and you can tell these boys have been travelling recently as their music takes you to a foreign land as you listen. The vocal element of the track also sounds just a little bit like something you might find on a song by the American band Passion Pit.

Polarsets have enjoyed considerable success in the past notably with the track ‘Sunshine Eyes’ which was released on Kitsune Records, and then also featured on the Parisian record label’s compilation ‘Kitsune Maison 11’ and also on their ‘Going To The Beach With Kitsune’ playlist. In addition to this, the track also received a lot of support from BBC Radio 1. It would come as no surprise if somebody of influence was to pick up this EP and run with it in the near future.
