RIA RITCHIE

Song Title:
ONLY ONE

Words by Grant Brydon

Ria Ritchie is the latest artist to come out of the culture of recording cover versions on YouTube with a webcam. Having been picked up by Plan B who stumbled across her cover of Duffy’s ‘Warwick Avenue’ Lowestoft based Ria was invited into a session with the rapper/vocalist who helped her co-write a number of original new tracks.

Aside from working with Plan B, she has also spent time collaborating with producers Craze & Hoax (Emeli Sande, Dot Rotten), Futurecut (Lily Allen, Rizzle Kicks, Olly Murs) and Sam Frank (Skream), as well as teaming up with Ruth-Anne Cunningham (co-writer of Pixie Lott’s debut album) for a studio partnership.

Having attracted over 10 million views on her YouTube channel, which features a diverse range of covers of tracks by everyone from Leonard Cohen and The Beautiful South to Frank Ocean and Alicia Keys as well as her own original tracks, including Jay-Z’s business partner Jay Brown who has expressed an interest in signing her to Takeover Roc Nation, their joint venture with UK rapper Tinchy Stryder, it’s safe to say that the young sonstress is one to watch in the future.

Her lead single ‘Only One’ gives us a taste of her sweetly grungy sound through original tracks, and hint at what we should expect from her upcoming EP of the same name, which is due to drop in the coming months.
