Much has been said and documented about the rise of the digital age of music, with music making software much more readily available to those working on a more humble budget, while services such as Soundcloud and Bandcamp have established themselves as the main platforms for bedroom artists across the world to share their music. However Stumbleine is a case in point of a producer who has benefited from this new age, after he uploaded his tracks to Bandcamp and developed a considerable following without any premeditated thought of press coverage.
Stumbleine’s development, and certainly to the point in which he managed to reach the Tipping Point towers, is a result of his popularity through his music on Bandcamp and ‘word of mouth’ on social networks. Little else is really known about Stumbleine, other than the fact he’s based in Bristol and has worked on remixes with other rising producers, including the likes of Sun Glitters. These collaborations have only furthered Stumbleine’s reputation amongst his peers as one of the most exciting sparks in the electronica scene.
‘Ember’ forms part of Stumbleine’s latest release, ‘Rose Tinted EP’, which was distributed online through his bandcamp at a ‘pay what you want’ price tag. A quiet composition, ‘Ember’ is a warming collection of sampled vocals and rising beats that are pinned together by a wistful three note piano sequence. With such an established and loyal fan base, it is only a matter of time until Stumbleine achieves the great success he is destined for in 2012.
