VASCO DA GAMA

Song Title:
HAWK MOTH

Words by Paul Brown

Sometimes there’s nothing in this world more satisfying than a band making a right old racket, which is where the likes of Liverpool-based four-piece Vasco Da Gama come in, because it’s clearly something they particularly enjoy doing and something they’re bloody good at. ‘Hawk Moth’ is a song which underlines this point forcibly, blasting its way into our consciousness on a tide of hefty riffage. It’d be doing the band a disservice to suggest it’s just dumb fun though, because the powerful rock thrills are under-pinned by jerky, playful melodies and a mischievous sense of creativity.

All told, it’s an enticing prospect. There’s a couple of EPs over at their Bandcamp to get your teeth into, which we’d strongly recommend, or given their statement on their Facebook that they love playing gigs, you’re bound to get a chance to see them at some point soon.
