UMT:PRO is the one for you.

You will master the skills for making music on a computer using Cubase, Reason and UAD in house, giving tips and advice that can translate to any DAW of your choice. 

Over 12 weeks you'll learn all you need to know about how to licence and release new material as well as being armed with advanced production skills and a network of contacts to start off your career in music production.

STAR

Do you dream of recording a song just like your favourite singer or of recording a song of your own?

STAR offers singers two days of intensive studio time with an expert producer at the state-of-the-art UMT Academy Studio in Newcastle. Vocalists can choose between recording a favourite song or working on an original track, with input from some of the best writer/producers in the UK, resulting in fully produced tracks to take you to the next level.

  • • Record up to 2 cover versions or 1 original track
  • • 2 days of state-of-the-art studio time
  • • Intensive one-to-one time with our expert producer/writers
  • • Expert support with songwriting, arrangement and production
  • • Fully produced mixes and backing tracks
  • • Professionally recorded songs to take you to the next level
  • • Take home 5 copies of your tracks on CD

An entry level music training course for aspiring DJs and music producers

Get to grips with top line performance and production equipment including Pioneer CDJ400's, DJM400 mixers, Traktor Scratch Pro Digital DVS System and Cubase.

UMT:VOX

12 week course for 16-24 year old aspiring vocalists, MCs and rappers

Work alongside regional production mentors - enabling you to develop your own style and skills, record industry standard tracks, work in a professional studio environment and receive expert industry training and artist development. 

Working alongside professional producers you will:

  • • Write music and lyrics to their beats
  • • Promote and manage events
  • • Perform at a club night in the heart of Newcastle

 

UMT:VOX seeks to explore, encourage and enable new creative talents within urban music through one to one mentorships from the region's finest urban producers and where possible will establish links with UMT:BEATS.

UMT:PLAY

A free week long intensive course of expert music training

UMT:PLAY is ideal for 11 to 24 year old vocalists, rappers, guitarists, bass players, drummers and percussionists, keyboard players and pianists as well as aspiring producers and DJs.

You will get the opportunity to:

  • • Get started - rehearsal space and time at no cost
  • • Receive expert tuition (vocal skills, songwriting, stagecraft, etc.)
  • • Find out about music technology and production
  • • Get professional advice from experienced musicians and industry experts
  • • Develop and produce your own event
  • • Record and take home your own material
This course offers a wide range of musical and vocal tuition alongside music production sessions to encourage collaboration between groups of young people.

UMT:PLAY
 
brings together people of different skills and tastes to write, record and perform new music which culminates in a live performance of new material produced during the week in a top North East venue.
