Next Up is a songwriting camp for artists, songwriters and producers delivered in partnership with Nrthrn Baby, a Newcastle-based music and culture agency championing underrepresented genres including rap, R&B and Afrobeats across the North East.
Together, we're creating opportunities for artists working in genres that have historically been underrepresented in the region's music industry. The programme is designed to support artists, producers and songwriters creating hip-hop, grime, R&B, rap or Afrobeats by providing space to collaborate, develop new music and build industry connections.
Following the success of our first three songwriting weekends, applications are now open for the next Next Up Songwriting Camp. If you're aged 18–25 and making music in Afrobeats, R&B or rap across the North East or Tees Valley Combined Authority areas, we'd love to hear from you.
You’ll leave with:
16 hours of studio time across the weekend
A fully mixed and mastered group track
A professional music video
PRS membership
Please note that Next Up is open to 18–25-year-olds, and we welcome applications from both artists and producers.
Applicants must be available for the 15 & 16 August
Applications close 31 July
